| Biographical Information | Bob Burke has authored more books about Oklahoma than anyone in history. He was born in Broken Bow, Oklahoma, and now practices law and writes books in Oklahoma City. Burke graduated with a journalism degree from the University of Oklahoma and a law degree from Oklahoma City University. He served as director of a large state agency in the administration of Governor David L. Boren and managed Boren's first campaign for the United States Senate in 1978. Burke has written on such diverse topics as baseball, aviation, and religion in Oklahoma. His biography of Wiley Post and a book on the history of baseball in Oklahoma each received awards from Oklahoma Center for the Book. His biography on Bryce Harlow was a Pulitzer Prize nominee and was named Oklahoma History Book of the Year by the Oklahoma Historical Society. Burke's community service is extensive. He has served or currently serves on the governing boards of the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence, Jim Thorpe Association, Oklahoma Heritage Association, Oklahoma Arts Council, Red Earth, and on the executive committee of Oklahoma City University's President's Council. |
